Kirk Blackman (B'89)

Since 1999, Kirk Blackman has been the owner and managing partner of Blackman Financial Services (BFS), a wealth management firm located in Mitchellville, MD, and is a life and health Agent for New York Life Insurance Company. After serving as an auditor and consultant for KPMG LLP for 10 years, he formed BFS to provide financial and strategic planning advice for professionals, business owners, and their families. Blackman oversees $40+ million in assets under management, and has led his company to receive President’s Council & Executive Council status for outstanding sales production for New York Life.

He previously served as chairman of the Pension Committee for Dimensions Healthcare System (DHS), responsible for the stewardship and compliance of a $185 million defined benefit pension plan and a $100 million defined contribution 403(b) plan. Blackman was also chairman of the Finance Committee for DHS ($350+ million in revenues) from 2004-2008.

Currently, he serves on the advisory board for Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection of Prince George’s County, an organization serving at risk students in middle and high school.

Kirk earned his B.S. in accounting from Georgetown University, and, early in his career, became a certified public accountant.
