Wayne G. Monfries is senior vice president and head of global tax at Visa. Monfries joined Visa in April 2020. Previously he was VP of global tax at TransUnion in Chicago, and VP and chief tax officer for Nike in Portland, Oregon.

A graduate of Georgetown University, he began his career in public accounting in Washington DC, working in mergers and acquisitions, audit, and tax. He moved on to work for food manufacturer Mars, Incorporated in New Jersey and London, England, where he held various roles in tax and finance.

Monfries is active in the tax community and recently served as the president for tax executives institute, a 7,000-member professional organization. In 2016, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Oregon Health & Science University, and in 2018 was elected to serve as Board Chair. He has previously served as a member of the Georgetown University Board of Regents.
